If you are born in the 80s or 90s, most of us would have experienced the pressure of bringing the top ranks in schools or colleges. We were always told if we bring distinction marks; we will be recognized, our life is set, and so on.
But the reality is far behind getting the marks in your studies. In the real world, skill is much more important than getting excellent marks in report cards. Agree that academic marks are the basic foundation for one’s career but what if the marks are stuck with a marks card, and when you face the world, those marks are in stealth.
Some people were not studious but are doing well or even better in their lives. Some people were studious but are just stuck with the only goal to survive for their spouse or kid. And some people were studious and knew what they need out of their life or what the goal is.
We have to understand that getting marks is not the only ultimate goal to achieve. The actual exam lies when you come in the real world and face different kinds of people, every day a new challenge to face, the mannerisms, tactics, and so on. These are not taught in school and have to be learned in the real world.
Allow your kids to understand that curriculum study is an integral part of life but at the same time make them understand that studying only to get excellent marks is not going to work. Let them know where their interest lies and can they make their living out of it.
